Academic background

I obtained my K-12 schooling in Donna, TX in the Rio Grande Valley. From 1989-1994, I attended the University of Texas at Austin and received a B.S. in Mathematics. I received my Ph.D. in May 2000 from the Department of Computational and Applied Mathematics at Rice University in Houston, TX. Then I spent a year at St. Mary's University in San Antonio and then at the University of Texas-El Paso, finally arriving at UT-Pan American in August 2001.


Research Interests

Linear and Nonlinear Optimization, Newton's Method, Interior-Point Methods, Trust-Region Methods, Applications involving Optimization
